Halesowen Butterflies 28th May
10 years ago I planted Buckthorn in my garden hoping to persuade the occasional Brimstone butterflies to breed. It has taken a long time but yesterday I witnessed a male and female, very much 'in love', with courtship displays, mating and egg-laying. It just shows you have to be patient!
Later the same day we had this European butterfly, Araschnia levana, most likely a release, but we have had an influx of warm continental air ......
