Eriocrania salopiella

Eriocrania salopiella

I collected a few mines of Eriocrania salopiella from Uffmoor Wood at the end of May last year. They have been outside until a few days ago when I brought them indoors and two adults emerged this morning.

  1. Well reared and photographed!
I really must try some of these this year - I still have several to see.
How did you keep the mines?

    1. Hi Oliver. I placed the occupied mines on 2cm moss on top of 4cm potting compost in a clear yoghurt container with the original top in position. The pot was kept outside, under cover, out of the sun until a few weeks before normal flight period before bringing into the warm house. This method has worked well with semipurpurella too.
