Bringsty Common

I dusted down the moth trap last night after returning from the Recorders Day in Birmingham. 5 species including my first Spring Usher for the garden (probably because I hardly ever get around to putting the trap out at this time of year).  That's species number 713. Others were Pale Brinded Beauty (2),  Chestnut (3), Dark Chestnut (1) and an Acleris notana/ferrugana.  Quite a few Agonopterix heracliana at the house windows as well.   Peter Hall

  1. I haven't finished dissecting last years moths yet, never mind starting to record this year.

  2. I've been slogging away at dissecting for well over 8 months now and I managed just over 5000 dissections last year and this year already I'm over 850 with a 2000 batch that I started on today. Getting out to look at the trap is a very welcome diversion.
