I collected a few mines of Eriocrania salopiella from Uffmoor Wood at the end of May last year. They have been outside until a few days ago when I brought them indoors and two adults emerged this morning.
Hi Oliver. I placed the occupied mines on 2cm moss on top of 4cm potting compost in a clear yoghurt container with the original top in position. The pot was kept outside, under cover, out of the sun until a few weeks before normal flight period before bringing into the warm house. This method has worked well with semipurpurella too.
Well reared and photographed!
ReplyDeleteI really must try some of these this year - I still have several to see.
How did you keep the mines?
